Sagra delle fragole, The Strawberry Festival

Sagra delle fragole a Nemi – in June every yeara. The strawberry festival is dedicated to local fragoline di bosco (wild strawberries). And, Diana of Nemi, the goddess of the hunt, “her hunt of wild berries in the woods.”
Nemi is located close to Rome and Velleti. You can get a bus from Rome or Velletri and arrive in Nemi. They run every couple of hours. The drive however does not take long from Rome, it is not far and worth the trip, especially for the Strawberry Festival Sagra delle Fragole is the name of the Festival.
Nemi has been famous for its wild strawberries, and the backdrop of the volcanic crater. There are strawberry flags draped and hanging all over the town and food all with strawberries, pizza, tarts, and also a flower show. I haven’t seen the strawberry pasta, but I am sure it exists. As a long lover of strawberries, especially organic, I love this festival! In the U.S. we are cautioned not to eat the strawberries for fear of the toxins therein, so, come here for delicious, healthy sweet strawberries and enjoy!
