SHANGRI LA ROOFTOP BAR PARIS
Located on the 7th floor of Terrass” Hôtel Montmartre, this “seventh heaven” rooftop bar offers a jaw-dropping panoramic view of the city. Scan the dazzling “city of lights” that lay before you and find La Défense, Montmartre, Les Invalides, Montparnasse Tower and, of course, the magnificent Eiffel Tower. Indoor and outdoor seating allow for year round access, starting at 3:30 pm every day. Finding a spot at this modern, intimate bar can prove a challenge, however. Space is based on availability, so if this is a must for you – plan accordingly! You won’t be disappointed.
Signature Sips: The Moulin Rouge (or any of the other 15 original cocktails they’re known for!)
Address: 12-14 rue Joseph de Maistre, 75018 Paris
Tucked away into the greenery of the Parc des Buttes Chaumont is a respite for your city weary soul. Although Rosa Bonheur isn’t a skyline view, it is the best sunny afternoon stop. It is the closest you will get to a “biergarten” in Paris, so why not grab a crisp drink beneath the shade of the chestnut trees and enjoy one of the most idyllic scenes the city has to offer. The eclectic but laidback crowd make for a relaxing spot (at least before 4 pm – by 7 this place is packed with people!).
[If you were impressed by Rosa Bonheur, they have an offshoot on the Seine as well at 37 quai d’Orsay, 75007 Paris]
Signature Sips: the Rose Summer
Address: Parc des Buttes Chaumont, 2 avenue des Cascades, 75019 Paris
Sky high horizon lines and bucolic parks may not strike your fancy. For those who prefer waterside sights, this venue is your ticket to a lake front sit down with a Parisian craft beer. Settle in to the city by soaking up some sun and sharing a refreshing pint with good company as you overlook the Bassin de la Villette. You can even sign up for Exbièrience which includes a lesson on beer and brewing, a guided tour of the brewery, and a tasting of all their house beers.
Signature Sips: Le Barge du Canal for something full bodied and hoppy or L’oeil de Biche for a lighter, crisp flavor
Address: 4 Port des Invalides, 75007 Paris
Past the speakeasy style entrance and up the lift to the 7th floor of an unassuming, industrial-style building is Le Perchoir, or “the perch.” This peak view bar is comfortably decked and surrounded with a 360 degree view of Paris. The selling point of Le Perchoir’s scenery isn’t the Eiffel Tower standard, but rather the charm of Montmartre’s rooftops among a more local clientele. A must-try for those who want a relaxed atmosphere with the same stunning sights as some glitzier stops. This place pulls in the numbers you would expect from one of Paris’s most popular rooftop bars, so make sure to avoid its busiest hours.
Signature Sips: the Parisian Sunset
Address: 14 Rue Crespin du Gast, Paris 75011
•The Cube Bar on Galeries Lafayette Rooftop Terrace•
One would think there is a limit to what the Galaries Lafayette has to offer. Already brimming with cutting edge fashion, stunning art nouveau features, and diverse events – the flagship store tops it off with a rooftop bar and panoramic views of Paris. The Cube Bar is even a fantastic choice in the winter – where it turns into two geometric igloos (and thus its unofficial title the “Ice Cube Bar”). Heated, the domes cocoon you in a glistening glass haven from where you can look out towards the uniquely Parisian skyline. Complete with a horizon line defined by the “Iron Lady” herself, the Eiffel Tower.
Signature Sips: One of the always changing daily drink specials
Address: 40 Boulevard Haussmann, 75009 Paris, France
Originally the private mansion of Roland Bonaparte, eccentric botanist and great-nephew of Napoleon, the 101 suites and bedrooms evoke a grand classical lifestyle, some with balconies from which you can almost touch the Eiffel Tower across the river. And what a place for the perfect rooftop bar, views that are unmatched anyplace in Paris!
Signature Sips: fine Champagne and immaculate caviar that combined take you to another level.
Address: 10, avenue d’Iéna, Paris, 75116, France
