Villa Elementi, Lake Como is a luxury villa on the lake with a pool and 8 bedrooms. It was featured in the February 2019 issue of Architectural Digest Magazine as the number one property in Lake Como and in all of Italy. When I visited the Villa in the spring of 2018, I was taken aback by the elegant design, furnishings, and location. Who would have thought that one of the most fabulous Italian Villas would have emerged from a lot that was a boat yard years ago? I always knew the prestige of this Lake Como Villa, but to hear about it in such a classy magazine blew me away. It reassured me that the fortunate guests of the future can recreate the joy year after year, and appreciate the whole Holiday experience. Elementi truly deserves it’s universal recognition. The property sits on the widest part of the lake, which means you have the vast scenic water before you. The Villa’s aesthetic goes beyond what words can describe and the owner has unselfishly opened up to exclusive renting for your holiday pleasure. 

Day Trips in Lake Como from Villa Elementi

One advantage of Villa Elementi is the balance of access and privacy. The natural environment creates a private vacation between the water and the forest, yet the airports in Milan are a short drive away, and one can boat to beautiful Bellagio in five minutes as well. Some exciting day trips happen when you can spend so much more time at your destination than you spend traveling to get there. Here are my two favorites from Villa Elementi:

Villa Melzi Gardens: 

Enjoy a brief, scenic boat ride to Bellagio. Once there make your way over to the Villa Melzi Gardens. This popular spot has a reputation for its stunning collection of exotic plants. The gardens boast multiple routes to follow around the Villa from 1810. Bring €6.50 for the gardens if you choose to go because they only accept cash; well worth it for peaceful exploration in the gardens.

Lake Como Boat Tours:

Villa Elementi having its own dock is quite a benefit. I would recommend a boat tour of Lake Como so that you can walk right off your own dock and onto the water. Lake Como captains have a wide variety of luxury boats and every one is very knowledgeable, kind, and eager to teach. I learned so much about the history of the Lake Como area, the surrounding Villas, and more general Italian history; and it always sounds better coming from a local. Don’t worry if you have never tried boating before because in my opinion, a trip out on the lake is the perfect way to dip your toes in.
