Luxury Villa on Lake Como
The villa is the filming location in the House of Gucci is one of a kind in Italy. I visited again in 2019; It is a challenge to find words to describe a place that settles deep in your heart and brings tears to your eyes. To behold such beauty seems almost selfish, if you can not share it with everyone you know and love. I have been in search of the owners of this property for a long time. It is not easy to find owners of these villas that I bring to my clients. Sometimes it takes years of research and many trips to Lake Como to find the fortunate owners. Who are the owners of these majestic Villas with majestic pearly lake, beneath the alps?! I have been intrigued to become familiar with every part of this paradise. As George Clooney shared, “it calls me back” and it does just that, whispers to your heart and your very core drawing you to return to a place where many don’t even know exists. What are the words, are there any? Majestic, spectacular, romantic, beautiful, all befitting, but seemingly still inadequate descriptions.
The Villa was built by a powerful Cardinal of the 16th century. In 1637 the Italian gardens were changed to obtain enough space to accommodate the Italian gardens. In 1787 the Villa was sold yet another Cardinal, who loved art. He transformed the Villa into an authentic place delighted by enlarging the house and garden, erecting statues and fountains, accentuated by long hedges and pergolas. The Villa is surrounded by fountains and large statues. From Strada Regina, a nymph flowered of blue iris leads to the path to the main house, lined with box hedges, where plan trees and cypresses grow.
The main entrance leads to the magnificent lobby decorated with original frescoes, surrounded by a dining room, a library, a winter garden and three salons. All these rooms have marble floors and original frescoes on the walls and ceilings. Adjacent are the kitchen and a covered terrace with fireplace for outdoor dining.
On the first floor, the lake view corridor leads to the studio, the master suite and the guest suites which surround the Cathedral ceiling Central Salon. A marble staircase leads to the second floor accommodations, four luxurious en suite bedrooms with their marble bathrooms, overlooking the Cathedral ceiling Central Salon. Each bathroom is different from the other depending on the type of marble, coming from all parts of the world. Each rooms is beautifully furnished with collectible antiques and traditional historical decor symbolic of Lake Como, rich in fabrics, rich woods and marble.
The garden is divided with green passageways and intricate spaces, where you can enjoy a stroll back in time, with a glass of wine on for a magical experience. Just relax by enjoying the view of the lake. One area is dedicated to the fine blue iris and another offers a vegetable garden available for guest’s use. Very few other Italian places offer such environmental variety. In a few kilometers one goes from the mountains to the lake, from alpine valleys to small hills.
The additional Villino (smaller villa on the property, separate unit) has 3 bedrooms for additional spaces should you require accommodations for larger groups.
