Tower on the Sea, Positano
We visited this historic tower by a small boat, as we approached by sea, I felt as if I knew I was in for a true Italian adventure. The tower was an incredible authentic experience, it emerges from the sea. Few properties in Positano have such a historical experience. The site now occupied by the Torre di Clavel began as a fortress during the occupation of the in the 1200’s. The tower’s reconstruction occurred in the 1920s. Today it is enjoyed by numbers of guests who seek a unique and adventurous uncommon accommodations. The Torre di Clavel is designed today a unique but comfortable home, with seaside views from every angle. One would feel that they are apart of the sea, above by winding stairs and expansive terraces. It is most suitable for those looking for a once in a lifetime experience.
You can arrive to the tower by boat, which is what most guests do as it is a long walk from the town. Once you arrive you have to climb a number of steps to arrive at the first of many levels. This experience would be reminiscent of a story book adventure. You find yourself passing through stone passageways from one room to the other. From various levels you can peer out the window and the most marvelous views on the coast. There are large rooms and most with stone walls. The terraces are stone and all with spectacular sea views. Outside there are three terraces for dining and soaking in the incredible vistas, and an entrance to a sunny and secluded beach.
Torre di Positano is a one-of-a-kind seaside villa. It is a mesmerizing property, with a millennium of history, sitting on the edge of Positano harbor. Including a historic tower, the villa is celebrated for its unique character, as well as its former resident, the artist Clavel. Torre di Clavel is spread over various levels, with open-air corridors, paths, hallways and terraces all carved from ancient stone. Bounded on three sides by sapphire waters, this villa is filled with amazing light that flows in through every window. Various terraces provide perfect venues for alfresco dining and relaxation.
This vacation home in Italy consists of three detached stone buildings, providing seven bedrooms in total. Each unit has unique charm and style. The interiors of Torre di Positano are breathtaking. Large archways of stone and wood are among its novel features. All bedrooms are elegantly furnished and provide utterly private, first-class accommodations with en suite bathrooms (tubs and/or showers).
The beach near the Tower is equipped with chairs and lounges; there is a bathroom with hot/cold shower at the top of the stairs, for refreshing before or after a swim. For excursions by private boat hire along the coast or to Capri, and the seaside Amalfi coastal towns. There is a private boat dock at the entrance to the property.
There are multiple staircases, not suggested for those unable to climb stairs. Unsuitable for adventuresome children. There are approximately 65 steps at the entrance and 37 steps to the beach. Some low walls of about 1 1/2 meters high. There is an electric chair lift at the entrance. Please discuss any physical constraints with us before booking. Arrival at house only possible via boat or on foot across stone beach. Parking at public car-park in Positano only, approximately 15 mins. from house. Taxi-boat service available from main beach; please inquire about times. Complimentary transfer from Positano beach to house, including porterage, included on arrival and departure days.
