Ultra Luxury Lucca Villa
This villa is an elegant, traditional 19th century, Lucchese villa, with 11 bedrooms, originally built as summer residence for the Pfanner family from Lucca, who used the fertile estate for the cultivation of rare flowers. This magnificent Villa is part of a collection located in Lucca. There are elegant angel frescoed on the ceilings of the salon, and the grand music room, to the arched loggia with views across the camellia garden. The entrance hall with pillars and arches, leads to the staircase to the first floor, where all the bedroom windows frame panoramic views over the surrounding countryside towards Lucca. Within the grounds are a private chapel, castle ruins and fountains, as well as a swimming pool, floodlit in the evenings, and outdoor tables and chairs, and a barbecue, for ”˜al fresco’ dining.
Monte Pisano is historically noted as being one of the main battlefields in the many wars between Pisa and Lucca which started in 1000 and continued for over 400 years. The villa itself was built as the summer residence of the Controni family; noble merchants who, in 1680, took over what is now Palazzo Pfanner in the centre of Lucca. In 1692 Carlo Nicola invited prince Frederick of Denmark and Norway as a guest whilst he was visiting Lucca during his Grand Tour of Italy. For many years the fertile estate which provided housing for workers, a chapel, stables and an olive oil press, was used for the cultivation of rare flowers.
