Beautiful Tuscany Rental Villa

Villa Tosca located in the heart of Tuscany in Val d’Orcia. It is the perfect villa for large weddings. This exquisite property was originally built at the end of the XV century as a wayside tavern, but soon became the center of an estate belonging to the great Hospital of Santa Maria della Scala in Siena. In 1924 it was bought by the a Italian family and turned into their comfortable home, from where they farmed and developed the land. From the Villa you will see the most famous photographed hills of Tuscany & of Val d’Orcia. Once you see it from the gardens, which are the most incredible in all of Tuscany, you will know that you have reached paradise. The pool is large and has ample outdoor lounging and al freso dining tables. The property is quite fascinating, with tall mature trees and flowers, from roses, to floral vines wisteria, to flowering daisies that line the walkways.

The Villa is built on three levels, following the lie of the hill, and is surrounded by the now famous garden created by Iris Origo and the English architect Cecil Pinsent – a ”˜labor of love’ lasting many years. The house is full of old-world charm, not showy, but with beautiful antique furniture, comfortable beds, and lots of lovely rooms which offer both both privacy and opportunities for family gatherings.

There are many cultural activities organized by and around the expansive and lush gardens. There are activities held mainly in the medieval castle 1 KM away, such as the well-known music festival Incontri in Terra di Siena, that gathers numerous music and art lovers to this beautiful and unspoiled part of Tuscany, the Val d’Orcia, recently included among the World Heritage sites of UNESCO.

Three gardeners look after the premises, including the swimming pool opposite the lemon and orange orchards. Two full-time maids and an extra help care for the house and its inhabitants (see below for details). Meals are often held under the pergola in the garden, where guests relax in the shade of roses and wisteria, lulled by the sound of water from the fountain nearby. The Villa includes an independent apartment on the second floor, with its own kitchen a perfect retreat for children and nannies, or younger guests.

The Gardens

The garden are completely at the disposal of Villa Tosca guests, if used for a Wedding the added cost is €5000 euros. The gardens are open to the public Wednesday afternoons and weekends, when it is open to the public (this is a requisite for most ”˜Heritage’ houses and gardens in Italy). Visitors are not free to wander, but are taken on strictly guided tours.
