Finally after over a decade of visiting properties, I have found the most elegant Villa in Italy. This magnificent villa is rich in historical value and beauty. I visited the villa immediately following 2 flights from the U.S. to Milan. I then drove to the Villa with little rest. Thinking I would be tired, as I approached the Villa my adrenaline started to awaken me. My passion and search following over a decade to find the most magnificent Villa in all of Italy, this was it, the day has arrived. Lake Como has been the inspiration of poets and writers over the centuries and its fascination remains unchanged. And for me, I wanted to not only photograph the Villa, but to also write my feelings, so I could always reflect upon this day. I was greeted at the high gates by a lovely and kind woman who welcomed me. I looked up at the majestic structure, took a step forward and was taken immediately into a storybook fairy tale. Walking very slowly to capture each moment, I approached the Villa. I ascended up the staircase and turned around to take in the views of the lake in front of the Villa; it was breathtaking.
The holiday one would experience at this property, would be a walk back in history. It offers a vast array of cultural and sports activities as well as many occasions for leisure and relaxation. Our guests may also choose exclusive itineraries from the best the world of art or La Dolce Vita has to offer. This property was the residence of the Serbelloni family. The Villa, a refined example of Baroque architecture situated on the western shore of Lake Como, was the much-loved summer residence of Duke Serbelloni and his family from the second half of the 1700’s. Prior to this time in the mid 1600’s the Villa was owned by the decedents of the King Charles II of Naples.
Its frescoed rooms, ornate stucco work and antique furniture all reflect the exquisite taste of the Villa architect and the noble families who resided there. The tutor for the Gabrio Serbelloni children was Italian poet, Giuseppe Parini and his cultural and artistic influence can be felt in each of the Villa’s splendid rooms.
The Suites have been restored with the family’s original furniture, and occupy the ground floor and part of the Villa’s first floor. These comfortable rooms, with accommodations for up to twelve people, are fully equipped with all the modern amenities. In the Villa guests live and breathe history and art. The Villa has a pathway and is within walking distance to Tremezzo.
